According to SpoTV News on the 17th, Yeo Ji Na, the writer of OCNŌĆÖs Sat-Sun drama The Uncanny Counter has recently dropped out of the production. The reason for her departure was revealed to be the disagreement over the story in the latter half. Though Yeo Ji Na has written the show from its first to 12th episode, her opinion for the development of the next episode was different from that of the production team. Consequently, she left the project. A related individual from OCN said, ŌĆ£Both her and the production team mutually agreed for her to drop out, as Yeo Ji Na had different plans for the second half of the show.ŌĆØ It is not uncommon for dramas to replace writers in the midst of their airing. Many dramas had their writers changed during the show, such as East of Eden, Spotlight, Big Thing, Tazza, The Time We Were Not in Love, Iron Lady Cha, and Gwanggaeto, The Great Conqueror. However, in the mentioned cases, there were conflicts too big for the production team/actors to deal with, or a lot of harsh criticism from viewers. However, the change in The Uncanny CounterŌĆśs writer is rather sudden as it was successful and continues to break OCNŌĆÖs record of two-digits viewer ratings. The 13th episode aired on the 16th was written by producer Yoo Sun Dong, who was in charge of directing. He is a screenwriter who has experience in writing scripts for movies and dramas such as Arahan, 0.0MHz, Mr. Housewife, and Shoot Me in the Heart. The rumors of The Uncanny Counter changing its plot since the 9th episode has been raised. Some viewers said after watching the 13th episode that ŌĆ£This is such a stretch,ŌĆØ as they complained about the storyline which was unlike its previous episodes. There was also a joke that the writer has been changed, due to its sloppy plot compared to the beginning of the show. However, the joke has been proved to be true.
The remaining script is to be written by a new writer, Kim Sae Bom. Attention is being paid to how the plot will be affected as this replacement of writer is being made after the shoot has already been completed on the 11th. For Yeo Ji Na, The Uncanny Counter was her returning piece after 11 years since He Who CanŌĆÖt Marry. Whilst her affection for the show must have been great, she had to give up her first comeback because of the ŌĆ£difference in opinions.ŌĆØ How or what the production team wanted for the ending of The Uncanny Counter will be revealed in the following stories. ┬Ā Source (1)
