On Jan 29, the Seoul Western District ProsecutorsŌĆÖ Office arrested and indicted Hwang on charges of violating drug management law. Earlier, Hwang was indicted on charges of taking meth several times at home from May to September 2015 using disposable syringes and buying meth and taking it with her acquaintances, including singer Park Yoo Chun (her fiance at the time), in 2018. In response, on July 19, 2019, the Suwon District Court sentenced Hwang to one year in prison and two years of probation. She appealed the case, but the sentence was confirmed when the appeal for the second trial was rejected in November of the same year. Meanwhile, Hwang was booked by police for taking drugs during her probation period, and on Jan 6, Yongsan Police Station in Seoul applied for an arrest warrant on charges of violating the law on drug management.
